What Consumers Can Do When UnitedHealth Faces Data Breaches and OTC Orders Are Affected by Walmart Partnership

UnitedHealthcare & Walmart OTC | Healthy Benefits Plus | Catalog

This is from a letter mom wrote to Walmart and cc'd UnitedHealth

Walmart Return Center
2301 Corporation Pkwy
Woodway, TX 76712

Dear Sirs
I just wrote this letter through the UnitedHealthcare website since you are their fulfillment center

https://healthybenefitsplus.com/HWPCard

December 2, 2024
All I get is the runaround on my inquiries. I also have to forfeit my benefits for EVERY ORDER THAT DOESN'T ARRIVE (THIS IS WHERE SHE FILLED IN HER NAZ AND DOB)
Order number: XYZ (Order number) and (was 23 days in Processing) DELIVERED DEC 2, 2024 - DESTROYED (2) boxes of oatmeal and 1 box of prunes
I have pics of the destroyed oatmeal boxes and the box of prunes

DON'T WRITE ASKING FOR MY NAME, DOB & ADDRESS. I'M GIVING IT TO YOU NOW, YET I GET NO REPLIES ON STATUS OF THESE ORDERS. (She'd written them MULTIPLE times about her orders and they just gave her a canned reply, "Thank you for your message. We appreciate your question and we will work to address your concern. Your message is currently being reviewed by our support team. Look for an updated email response within 1-2 business days. Please note our regular business hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time, excluding holidays" and then never reply)

FIX IT!

Sincerely,
C

The damaged items were
UnitedHealth and WalMart

The damaged items were
(1) Great Value Unsweetened Pitted Prunes Canister, 16 oz
(2) Quaker Old Fashioned Oatmeal, Whole Grain, 42oz

As of December 4, 2024 these orders are still 'processing'

Order number: xyz (4 days in Processing)
Order number: xyz (56 days in Processing)
Order number xyz (72 days in Processing)

On another order this is how it arrived
UnitedHealth and Walmart

I wrote to Nestle about the October 11, 2024 order and the damaged goods. They sent me some coupons for the coffee

What did WalMart or UnitedHealthcare do?

Nothing, nada, zilch, they ignored me

Please check into this and DO BETTER!

Sincerely,
C

In recent months, UnitedHealth has faced two significant data breaches, and its collaboration with Walmart for over-the-counter (OTC) orders has left many customers frustrated with undelivered items or damaged goods. These developments are understandably concerning for consumers, who rely on their health insurance provider and OTC benefits for security, convenience, and peace of mind. If you find yourself affected by either of these issues, here are some steps you can take to protect your information, ensure resolution, and hold both companies accountable

1. Secure Your Personal Information After a Data Breach

When a data breach occurs, your personal and medical information may be compromised. UnitedHealth, as a health insurance provider, holds sensitive data about its members. If you've been affected by one of the recent breaches, take immediate action to secure your information:

Monitor Your Accounts: Regularly check your bank accounts, credit cards, and any accounts related to your health insurance. Look for unusual activity such as unauthorized charges or requests for services you didn’t initiate.

Place Fraud Alerts: Consider placing fraud alerts with credit bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian) to prevent identity theft. This alert will notify creditors to take extra steps in verifying your identity before granting credit.

Consider a Credit Freeze: If you suspect your information has been stolen or misused, a credit freeze will make it difficult for identity thieves to open new accounts in your name.

Request a Copy of Your Medical Records: You are entitled to a copy of your medical records. If the breach affected your healthcare information, requesting these records can help you track any discrepancies or unauthorized medical claims made in your name.

File a Complaint: Report the breach to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at IdentityTheft.gov and the Department of Health and Human Services if your health information was compromised. Filing a complaint helps authorities track data breaches and take appropriate action.

2. Address OTC Order Issues with Walmart Partnership

UnitedHealth’s collaboration with Walmart for OTC orders, such as medications and health products, has been plagued by delays, undelivered items, and damaged goods. Here’s how you can address these issues:

Contact Customer Support Immediately: If your OTC order is delayed, undelivered, or damaged, your first step should be to contact Walmart’s customer service. Be sure to document the issue by taking photos of any damaged items and noting the order number and any correspondence.

File a Claim for Damaged Goods: Many companies have a process for handling claims regarding damaged items. Walmart may offer a refund, replacement, or reimbursement for any goods that arrive broken or unusable.

Utilize Online Order Tracking: Walmart’s website or app usually provides order tracking. Check for any status updates to ensure the items are being processed or if there have been issues with the shipment. This can also help you understand if delays are due to logistical problems.

Ask for Compensation:If delays or damage cause significant inconvenience, don’t hesitate to ask for compensation. Whether through a partial refund, discount, or free shipping, it’s reasonable to request restitution for the inconvenience, especially when you're relying on these products for health needs.

3. Consider Legal Action if Necessary

If both the data breach and order issues aren’t resolved satisfactorily, consumers may need to take further steps. Consult with an attorney to discuss possible legal actions, such as class-action lawsuits related to the breach or contractual issues with Walmart regarding undelivered or damaged goods.

4. Stay Informed and Proactive

Ultimately, staying informed is key. Follow any official communications from UnitedHealth and Walmart regarding the status of the breach or order delays. Being proactive with your personal security and communicating with both companies about the status of your orders or account issues can help mitigate the damage caused by these setbacks.

In the face of these challenges, consumers must take the necessary steps to protect their privacy and ensure their orders are delivered as promised. Holding companies accountable and being vigilant about personal security will help reduce the impact of these incidents.

Senior in parking lot
Video from Pubity at https://www.tiktok.com/@pubity

EVERY senior community needs an inoperable car with working radio in their parking lot. That way the senior can sit in it rocking out for the memories. For some that might be the only joy they have in life, especially if their families have taken them to senior communities or nursing homes and rarely, if ever, visit.
